About the Author:

Dolly Ness was born in Butte, Montana, and graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in English Education. She has worn many hats: teacher, business owner and manager, government worker, and freelance writer. She is the author of various magazine articles but this is her first book. She lives in Newport, Oregon, with her husband Troy and her Cavalier King Charles dog, Duffy.

This was the first time Calvin was exposed to the game of golf; he had previously thought it was only a game for old, rich white men. In fact, at one time on the more exclusive courses, not even black caddies were allowed. Once that golf club was in his hands, he was hooked."

For Peete's Sake, sure to inspire both young and old, especially African American youth, is the biography of one of the most successful men on the PGA Tour, Calvin Peete.

He never touched a golf club until the age of 21 and yet went on to win over two million dollars, compete on the U.S. Ryder Cup team, win the Jackie Robinson Award and acquire many more accolades.

Challenges became a way of life

Shuffled from one poor place to even poorer places as a
youth, Peete never finished school and at an early age learned to hustle pool and cheat at cards and dice to earn money to live on.

A fall from a cherry tree at age eleven may have helped mold a career that was to be outstanding. His broken arm never healed properly and Peete has never been able to fully straighten or bend his left arm. As an adult he was diagnosed with a crippling disease. None of these
stopped the man who became known in the golfing world as Mr. Accuracy.

He competed in a world of professionals at the top level and won, and today he is still helping young people learn how to be the best they can be. The world is a better place because Calvin Peete refused to let adversity keep him down, and his story will continue to inspire and motivate.
